      =======================

We have a small problem with the census.
1860 Joseph, Parizade, Margaret in Carroll Co., AR
1870 Joseph, Parizade, Margaret, Francis E., James M., John F., Baby [Columbus Edward] in Carroll Co., AR
1880 Joseph [listed as md], Parizade, John F., Edward, Ailsy in Newton Co., MO
1880 Parizade [listed as wd], Margaret [&husband Gilbert Johnson and 2 children], James M., John F., Ailsy J., Shelby [1879] in McCulloch Co., TX

As can be seen, Parizade, John F, Edward, and Ailsy are listed on both 1880 census records. Since the MO census was enumerated on 10 Jun 1880 and the TX census was enumerated on 18 & 19 Jun 1880, this is obviously not possible.

Now I refuse to believe that we have two Parizade Littrell's the same age and with the same children who are also the same ages. And why does Parizade list herself as widowed and Joseph, in MO, list himself as married?

I set up a chart to track the children:
Margaret is with both in 1860 and 1870 and with Parizade in TX in 1880.
Francis is with both in 1870 and disappears, maybe died.
James M is with both in 1870 and with Parizade in 1880
John H is with both in 1870 and listed with each in 1880, MO & TX
Edward is with both in 1870 and listed with each in 1880, MO & TX
Alsey is not on 1870, b 1872/1874 but is listed with each in 1880, MO & TX
Shelby, born 1879, is listed only with Parizade in TX 1880,
Shelby is with brother James M in Indian Territory in 1900

1900 Ind Terr, Joseph, son Jos [b Sep 1879 in KS and sons William Monroe, Jesse, and Elijah, all born between 1882 and 1886 in TX.

Apparently [see below] Joseph and Parizade separated about 1878/1879. Their son Shelby was born in March 1879. Joseph married Josephine B. White, widow with daughter Earney, about 1879. Their son Joseph Gideon Littrell was born Sep 1879 in KS. They had three other sons, William M, b 1882, Jesse, b 1884. and Elijah, b 1886. Josephine died when Elijah was an infant. Joseph and sons went to live with son Jim (whose wife nursed Elijah along with her infant son). Parizade was also living with son James and Parizade and Joseph remarried about 1887. She must have died soon after since she is not on 1900 census with Joseph and he is listed as widower.

rcvd by LDK fr Kay Thompson on Saturday, November 19, 2005:

Good Morning, In case you are wondering I am the granddaughter of Joseph Gideon Littrell who I believe was a half brother to your Columbus Edward Littrell. I have to admit that I have been researching the Littrell family for quite sometime as I knew very little about my ancestors. My Dad's sister gave me names and addresses of aunts, uncles and cousins that she had visited with throug the years who in turn put me in contact with a granddaughter of Mun's who sent me a quite a bit of information on the family's of Joseph G. (Gerome is the middle name according to a letter my granddad wrote for a birth certificate ) Littrell. My dad talked about one of my granddads sisters marring a Funderburg--and introduced my sister and I to a couple of Littrell cousins from Cimarron, N. M. -- A book on that family came out in the late 1970's titled "Give Me Room" by Delbert Hughes. I believe the (John Littrell) that they talk about in Give Me Room was a half brother to Feilden/ Phelon/Feldon Littrell who married Lucy Wood. and was the father to Joseph Gideon.
I understand that you are seeking information on Columbus Edward Littrell born in 1870 in Arkansas, Maybe the following will help.

By 1883 Joseph and Parizade were divorced and he remarried -- since most of the 1990 census records were destroyed in a fire there was little trace of him until the Indian Territory Chickasaw Nation 1900 Census:

      Marital

About 1886 or 1887 Joseph's second wife died and Jim a son of Joseph and Parizades came and took Joseph and his second family home with him where his wife had a new baby and she also nursed Elijah. I understand that Parizade was also living with Jim at that time therefore she and Joseph remarried in 1889 Cooke County Texas.

I found on line A History of the State of Oklahoma (which I believe is a book) a page about Jim Littrell which states that he is the son of Joseph G. and Parrie Simmons says their children were Arminda wife of Gilbert Johnson of Greer County Oklahoma; James M. of this notice; John L. of Garvin County Okla; Edward of Wetumka of that state; Elsie who married Robert Funderburg of Greer County, Oklahoma and Shelby of Nowata that state. Jim also states that Joseph's Dad was Fielden Littrell who had farming interest in both Missouri and Arkansas dying in Carroll County of the later state of age about ninty years.

Hopefully some of this information helps. M. K. Thompson
