  • Notes
    • John Hussey listed in Ancestry.com's census Index as "John O. Hussey." A careful reading of the scanned census image could (I believe does) give a reading of "John C. Hussey." His age bracket, 30 thru 39, would be correct for John C. [born 1800]. Age bracket for John's wife, 20 thru 29, is correct for John's wife, Sally Tarbox who was born 1801, making her 29 years old in 1830. John is also living near Christopher Hussey [age 60 thru 69]. John C.'s father, Christopher, was born 1769, making him 61 in 1830 -- again the correct age to be our John C's father. Also living nearby is Paul Hussey [age 30-39], this Paul is probably Christopher's son and John C.'s brother. Paul Hussey on this census is the correct age to be Chrisopher Sr.'s son. Christopher Sr. was married in 1794 and this Paul was born between 1800 and 1809, so the age could fit. John C. was married in 1921 so would not be in his father's household in 1830. However, there are still two younger males in Christopher's household -- one aged 15-19 and one aged 20-29. Christopher Jr was born 1810 and married in 1836 so would still be at home listed in the 20-29 age bracket. That leaves one unknown son in the 15-19 age bracket.

Note onSources: Many of the birth, death and marriage dates of Christopher Hussey and his descendents are taken from NEHGR, the New England Historical and Genealogical Register.

His son Pendleton died on the Neck, 17 April, 1807, in the one hundredth year of his age. Mr. Fletcher sold of the Neck, of Wood island, &c. for 1400, lawful, to Batchelor Hussey of Sherburne, Nantucket, 1737 . Mr. Hussey was of the society of Friends; he was a descendant of Christopher Hussey, who came to New England from the town of Dorking, near London, 1634, and settled at Lynn, Mass. Christopher married Theodata, daughter of Rev. Stephen Batchelor, and left two sons, Stephen and John, the former of whom lived at Nantucket, where he died 1718, aged eigbty eight.
