  • Notes
    • Have a problem with Henry's birth date. 1870 Miller Co., MO census for father, Jacob Gardner, lists Henry as age 7/12, born in Nov., which would be Nov 1869. Yet the 1900 census for Henry says he was born Jan 1872. This date can't be correct if he was on Jacob's 1870 census record. I might almost think Henry, b. 1869, died and another son was then named Henry. This did happen sometimes. But also on the 1900 census, Emiline, Jacob's wife, is listed as having borne 7 children and 7 were living. To add another Henry would make eight. Apparently Henry forgot, or for some reason, preferred to forget, when his birthday was.

gravestone gives birth date as 16 Jan 1870.
