| Notes |
- BIOGRAPHY: !Definite documentation has not been found to show that Hezekiah was the son of Absalom Strutton of Burke Co., NC. However, circumstantial evidence exists to support this connection.
1) Common family names -- Hezekiah, Susan (Susannah), Absalom, Elizabeth.
2) Born in NC according to 1850 and 1860 Indiana Federal Census records.
3) Birth year, 1809 per census records, fits with unidentified son on census records for Absalom Strutton of Burke Co.
4) Information provided to me by other researchers states that Jeremiah McNally Dills, son of Henry and Susan Strutton Dills, referred often to his uncle Hezekiah and aunt Margaret Stratton in Indiana. Two of his children were named for them, Margaret Cordelia Dills and Jeremiah Hezekiah Dills. If Susan (Suzanne) Strutton (wife of Henry Dills) was the daughter of Absolum and Darcus Strutton, this would mean that Hezekiah was also the son of Absalom and Darcus.
5) Rhoda Strutton (whom I believe to be the daughter of Absolum and Darcus Strutton, thus Hezekiah's sister) married George Adam Goble in 1827 and moved to Indiana. Adam and Rhoda are living in the same township as Hezekiah on the 1850 census. Sarah (Sally) Goble, their daughter, married Eli H. Noe. Elizabeth Strutton, daughter of Hezekiah and Margaret, married Eli's brother Abraham Noe.

Dawn,
You are a very busy lady! I really appreciate your response and attached file.
Yes, I'm sure the Floy Ramey you remember was my great aunt Floy. I corresponded with her sporadically beginning in 1950 or 54 and met her only twice, in 1978 and 1996, when my daughter and I made family history trips to NC. She passed away in Asheville, NC June 12, 1999, and is buried beside her husband Joseph Edward Ramey at Woodlawn Cemetery, Franklin, NC.
All my research has been based on correspondence with my great aunts Ethel Patton DaCosta and Floy Dills Ramey in the 1950s. Just about every bit of info or leads they sent me have proved accurate and I've been able to document.
When we met Aunt Floy in 1978 she said that we were related to the Strattons, Noes, Cummings, Gables, and Lochmonds of Indiana through grandma Susana Stratton. Said her father, Jeremiah McNally Dills, used to tell stories about trips he took to visit his uncle Hezekiah and aunt Margaret Stratton in IN, and that he kept in touch with them all. Said that "Grandmaw's brother was named Hezekiah" and that her (Floy's) sister, Margaret Cordelia Dills and brother, Jeremiah Hezekiah Dills, was named after her daddy's aunt Margaret and uncle Hezekiah.
Recently I began looking for Hezekiah and Margaret in Indiana and found them in 1860 with Noes and Goble's! There are also Cummin's living in the township.

I've recently been contacted by a researcher of the Adam Goble family in
Jackson Co. IN who thinks Rhoda Goble may be Hezekiah Strutton's sister and
it looks as though she may be right. There is no doubt in my mind that he is
our Susana's brother. She gave me census information that shows that
Elizabeth Noe, with whom they were living in 1860, must be their daughter.

On rechecking my notes I find that aunt Floy said, in 1996, she really didn't
know who Susannah's father was but had been told it was John. If aunt Floy
had said definitely who Susanah's father was I'd bet money on it, but in this
case it's a mystery.
About Susanah's and Henry's marriage: In 1978 aunt Floy told us that Susanah
had been married to a man named Furr who died. They had 2 children Alexander
and Louisa. When she married Henry the Furrs stole the children because they
didn't like grandpa Henry, said that some thought they were taken into
Tennessee.
When I began corrresponding by phone with Lawrence Wood in 1996 he told me
that there was bad blood between the Dills' and the Furrs, that "the Furr men
killed a Dills man then the Dills men killed a Furr man" (Susanah's husband).
Shortly afterward she married Henry. Then I started checking birth dates
and found that Susanah's and Henry's first 2 children were born in TN and the
first one was born June of 1839, a scant 6 months after the marriage.
Also, there's a John Stratton in Monroe Co. TN, born in NC, who has a son
named Ervin born 3 years before Susannah's 2nd son, Ervin. I'm guessing this
John is a brother or possibly a cousin, and I'm also guessing that they ran
to TN when they married possibly from scandal or to look for her children.
Mysteries, mysteries!!
If you'd like I can send you a file on my Dills line, just let me know.
