    • BIOGRAPHY: !Sold land in Pike Co., KY 1825. Moved to Vermilion Co., IL

      I am a gggg grandson of Rueben Giddens. I was raised in Red River Co. Tx at Clarksville, Tx. Richard Franklin Giddens is buried at the old Concord Cemetery, which is land the donated for Concord Baptist Church. I know some of the county clerks etc spelled it Gideon. I have copies of signautures of Reuben all the way back to Wilkes Co, N.C. and Floyd Co. Ky before he took this family on to Vermillion Co. ILL,, Reuben and Richard Franklin always signed their name "Giddens". Richard Franklin received the Concord land on a Spanish land grant in 1833. Reuben did not come to R.R. Co until 1839.
      I have visited Wilkes and Floyd county and hope someday to visit Vermillion. My line is Reuben>Richard Franklin> Wiley William>William Jefferson>Francis Marion>Robert Wesley>James Marion Giddens (me). I have much more information if anyone interested. There are 4 genarations of Giddens buried at Concord, about 7 miles northeast of Clarksville.

      Note: Above info incorrect in date Reuben left Vermilion Co., IL. Still on census there in 1840 -- Roll 71, p 130. Cannot locate Reuben or Nancy Giddens on 1850 census in IL or TX as of 26 Sep 2006. Do know he was in Red River Co., TX by 1853 and died there in 1854.
