  • Notes
    • Frederick Daniel Alsup was still farming in Sumner County, TN when he enlisted in Company 1, 3rd Tennessee Infantry on September 23 1847 at Nashville to join the Mexican War. He served until discharged in Memphis on July 22, 1848, including action at Vera Cruz, Jalapa, City of Mexico, and Moline Del Ray. About two months before he returned from Mexico, Daniel contracted measles. The War Department report lists him as "left sick in January and February, 1848, at Moline Del Ra, " but back on duty in March. As a result of the measles, Daniel's eyes were damaged. He sought treatment while still in service, and continued trying to cure his ailment throughout his life. He continued to farm in Sumner County, TN until moving to Salem Marion County Illinois in 1855.
In about 1857, Daniel married Mary Ann Maroon. Mary Ann died a year later, leaving a new-born infant.
      Daniel moved to Claremore, Oklahoma.
