      Hopkins Dies At Her Home Here ----

      After an illness of only ten days, Mrs. S. K. Hopkins, Sr., passed away at her residence in Alvarado on Monday evening near 8 o'clock. She had suffered a stroke of paralysis at the beginning of her illness and her condition gradually failed until the end came.

      Mrs. Hopkins was born in Lincoln County, Tennessee, on May 10, 1867, and was married to Samuel K. Hopkins on December 25, 1895. Mr. Hopkins having passed away on January 27, 1912. In 1895 the family came to Johnson County, and since 1899 they have resided in and near Alvarado. The deceased was a member of the Methodist Church for many years, and she was a consecrated christian lady of most estimable worth, greatly enduring herself to her friends and neighbors, all of whom sympathize deeply with the surviving children in this great bereavement.

      Funeral services were conducted at the family residence here at 4:30 o'clock, Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. H. C. Bowman, pastor of the First Methodist Church, in charge. Burial followed at the Venus Cemetery under the direction of Undertaker Coleburn.

      Pallbearers were Elmer Albert, Roy Anderson, Charles Brown, W. A. Pope, R. H. Jackson, and John W. Shultz.

      Honorary pallbearers were Dr. B. G. Prestridge, Dr. J. B. Campbell, Dr. W. J. Cummings, J. Tobolowsky, I. W. Branham, J. C. Leary, J. J. Walls, V. A. Comrier, C. F. Smith, L. P. Hardee, and G. B. Park.

      She is survived by the following named children and stepchildren: S. K. Hopkins, Jr., Miss Ella Hopkins, Ed Hopkins, and W. D. Hopkins; Mrs. Leo Baugh of Fellows, California, Mrs. M. D. Pate of Alvarado; S. C. Hopkins of Amarillo; R. L. Hopkins of Eastland.

      She is survived by the following named brothers and sisters: Robert Benson, Kelso, Tennessee; Aaron Benson, Kelso, Tennessee, William Benson, Newmarket, Alabama; Mrs. Ella Stiles, Kelso, Tennessee; Mrs. J. D. Leonard, Lillian, Texas; Mrs. N. O. Little of Brownfield, Texas; and Mr. Richard Benson of Akron, Ohio.

      Many beautiful floral tributes were evidence attesting to the love and esteem in which this good woman was held by all who knew her.
