      George L. Barr, age 87 years of Route 2, Eldon, Mo., formerly of Iberia, Mo., passed away January 3, 1976, at the Charles E. Still Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo. Mr. Barr was born February 6, 1888 in Miller County near St. Anthony, Mo., the son of Joseph and Rhoda (Shackleford) Barr. He was united in marriage on October 25, 1907 by Rev. John Aust to Mary Alice Jarrett, who survives of the home.

      Mr. Barr lived all his life in the Miller County area where he had farmed. He had also worked on construction at Bagnell Dam and at Fort Leonard Wood. Mr. Barr had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Mary Weeks of Route 2, Eldon, Mo., since May of 1974. He joined the Fairview Christian Church as a young man and had served as a Deacon in the Church for some time.

      Preceding him in death were one daughter, Jewell, age three, on October 23, 1912; one son, Gilford W. Barr on September 15, 1973 and two brothers, Walter on February 25, 1975 and Robert on November 1, 1959.

      Surviving other than his wife, Mary, are four sons, Elmer Barr, Joe Barr and Robert Barr, all of Louisville, Ky. And Carrell Barr of Elizabethtown, Ky.; three daughters, Mrs. Irene Ballinger of Garrettsville, Ohio, Mrs. Mary Weeks of Eldon, Mo. and Mrs. Mildred Weitz of Tuscumbia, Mo.; one brother, Harvey Barr of Iberia, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

      Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, 1976 at the Stevinson Chapel in Iberia, Mo. with Rev. Ralph Egoff officiating. Interment was in the Jarrett Cemetery under the direction of the Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia, Mo. Pallbearers were Calvin Jarrett, Ellis Jarrett, Perry Grady, Bradley Watkins, Jim Burks and Glen Shreve.
