      Amanda Hughes, 85, died early this morning at the home of her son, Francis Hughes. She had been in failing health the last few years. Mrs. Hughes was born in Arkansas and, as a young girl, moved to Solano, New Mexico. She was a member of Christian Church. She is survived by four sons, Francis Hughes of Santa Cruz, Delbert Hughes of El Paso, Texas, Edwin Hughes of Solano, New Mexico, and Herbert Hughes of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a half sister; four half brothers; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The remains will lie in state at White's Chapel this evening and will be forwarded to Roy, New Mexico tomorrow morning for funeral services to be held there.
